La Patisserie Peanut officially opened for business in June 2010 as an endeavor to combine two of my passions — writing and baking. As a full-time mom and part-time adjunct instructor, I don’t have much time to devote to either hobby, unless I have a specific purpose. Thus, when my good friend, Rachel, blogged about becoming a Daring Cook, I decided to look into this opportunity a bit more closely. What I found was a community of daring cooks and bakers — www.thedaringkitchen.com — willing to challenge their culinary skills on a monthly basis. Each month, said cooks and bakers are given a new challenge recipe to try. On the reveal date, they blog about their experiences and post pictures of their creations. I am venturing into this project accompanied by two fellow daring darlings — Rachel and Meghan. Together, we hope to break new ground in our respective kitchens.
One final note: It is important to mention the inspiration behind La Patisserie’s nom. I chose to name the blog La Patisserie Peanut for two primary reasons: 1) I am almost 100% French Canadian and found it fitting to pay homage to my ancestral roots and 2) I call my daughter, Clara, my little peanut (due to the fact that she was so small when she was born) and just had to include her in on this new adventure.
